What a MicroLaserPeel is

MicroLaserPeel uses a Sciton erbium laser to remove a precise layer of the skin’s surface. The depth is set in microns before we begin, which is the part that matters. A light pass and a deeper one are the same treatment at different settings, and they produce different results and different recoveries.

Removing that layer takes the damaged surface away and prompts the skin underneath to rebuild it.

Two depths

We offer this laser at two depths, and the choice between them is the main thing we work out at your consultation.

  • MicroLaserPeel. The deeper of the two, for correcting texture, pigment, and fine lines.
  • NanoLaserPeel. Works at the very top of the skin. It brightens and smooths with a fraction of the recovery, and it is the better starting point if you have never had a resurfacing treatment.

Nashville Skin Company is physician owned and has been treating clients in the Nashville area since 2013. Your treatment will be performed by one of our licensed medical estheticians, each with years of hands-on experience on this exact platform.

What it treats

  • Fine lines, particularly around the mouth and eyes
  • Sun damage and uneven pigment
  • Rough or coarse texture
  • Acne scarring
  • Dullness and skin that has stopped reflecting light

Where we treat

Face, neck, and hands. The hands in particular are treated far less often than they should be, given how much they give away.

The appointment

We numb the area thoroughly beforehand, which takes a while and is not a step to rush. The laser pass itself is quick.

Expect heat during the treatment and a sensation like a strong sunburn immediately afterward. That settles over the first few hours.

Recovery

This is the part to plan around, and it depends on the depth we choose.

  • NanoLaserPeel: one to two days of visible flaking, settled within three to five days
  • MicroLaserPeel: up to a week of peeling depending on depth, with skin fully settled somewhere between four days and two weeks

You will look red and feel tight at first, then the treated layer dries and sheds. Let it come away on its own.

Afterward

  • Use the ZO Skin Health post-care products we recommend, exactly as directed
  • Do not pick or scrub at the flaking
  • Stay out of direct sun and wear a broad spectrum SPF 30 or higher every day
  • Hold off on makeup until we tell you your skin is ready
  • Pause retinoids, acids, and scrubs until we say otherwise
  • Skip strenuous exercise and heavy sweating for the first few days

Who should wait

  • Anyone who has taken Accutane in the past six months
  • Active breakouts, open wounds, or any current irritation or infection in the area
  • Recently tanned skin
  • A history of keloid scarring is worth telling us about, since it changes what we recommend
