Light, medium, or deep

This is the conversation we have at your consultation, and it decides everything about your experience.

• Lighter settings. A refresh. Brightness, smoothness, and tone, with recovery closer to three days. This is the version for maintenance, for a first laser, or for anyone whose calendar will not tolerate a week.
• Deeper settings. Correction. This is where scarring, established pigment, and texture change meaningfully, and where recovery runs closer to a week.

Most people land somewhere between the two. We will tell you honestly what your skin needs to reach your goal, and what each option will cost you in recovery days, then you decide which trade you want to make.

One thing to be clear about, because it is easier to say now than at the front desk later. Your complimentary BBL covers the same area your Halo covered. If we resurfaced your face, the BBL is for your face. And if you would rather have your BBL somewhere else entirely, just tell us and we will price that area for you.

Pro-Nox, included

Halo is a real laser and you will feel it while it is happening. Pro-Nox comes with your treatment rather than as an upgrade. It is a balanced mix of nitrous oxide and oxygen that you hold and breathe yourself, so you control how much you use and when, rather than waiting for someone else to decide you have had enough.

It takes the edge off within a couple of breaths and clears just as fast, so you still drive yourself home. Plenty of practices charge for this. With Halo, we include it.

Why we include exosomes rather than sell them

Exosomes are tiny vesicles that cells release to signal to one another. Applied topically, they are used to support the skin’s own recovery process.

We use the BENEV Exosome Regenerative Complex. These are stem cell derived exosomes, freeze-dried and then reconstituted fresh at the time of your treatment rather than sitting premixed on a shelf. The complex also carries growth factors, peptides, amino acids, hyaluronic acid, vitamins, and minerals. We have used others alongside it, and this is the one we have stayed with.

The reason we apply them during your Halo rather than offering them separately is timing. Resurfacing briefly opens thousands of microscopic channels in the skin, and for a short window afterward your skin absorbs far more of what is put on it than it ever will again. That window closes quickly. We would rather use it than sell it back to you as an upgrade, so it is built into the price.

Is Halo right for you?

We will look at your skin in our imaging system and talk through your history before we book you, so we can set your treatment and your expectations together.

Halo may not be right if you have taken Accutane in the past six months, have an active breakout, an open wound, or any current irritation or infection in the area.

One thing worth knowing: because Halo’s settings are adjustable rather than fixed, it can often suit deeper skin tones that are not good candidates for light-based treatments like BBL. If BBL was ruled out for you, this may well be the answer instead. We will tell you honestly at your consultation.

Recovery, honestly

This describes a deeper treatment. A lighter one follows the same pattern over a shorter stretch.

• Day of: your skin feels hot, like a strong sunburn, and looks red. That settles over the evening.
• Days one to two: redness, and skin starts to feel rough and sandy as the treated tissue works its way to the surface.
• Day three: usually the peak. This is the day people find hardest, and knowing it is coming helps.
• Days four to seven: the roughness flakes away and redness fades.

About swelling

Swelling is the least predictable part of this treatment, and we would rather over-prepare you than under-prepare you. Some people barely swell at all. Others swell a great deal, particularly around the eyes, and the second or third morning can be a shock if nobody warned you. Both are normal. Plan for the bigger version and be pleased if you get the smaller one.

We will tell you which end of the range to expect before you book, so you can put it in the right week.

How often

It depends which version you are having.

If you came for correction, most people start with one treatment and some choose a second to go further. After that we recommend one a year. Your skin keeps aging, and it keeps meeting sun, pollution, and everything else that put the damage there in the first place. A yearly Halo holds the ground you gained rather than letting it slip back.

If you are using it lighter as maintenance, we will build a rhythm around your skin and your calendar rather than selling you a fixed package.

Afterward

• Use the ZO Skin Health post-care kit we send you home with, exactly as directed
• Do not pick or scrub at the flaking, let it shed on its own
• Hold off on makeup. We will tell you when your skin is ready, and it will not be the next day.
• Stay out of direct sun and wear a broad spectrum SPF 30 or higher every day
• Skip strenuous exercise and anything that makes you sweat heavily for the first few days
• Pause retinoids, acids, and scrubs until we tell you otherwise
